I chose this image because of the emotions it invokes in me.
Taken in the Pantanal, Brazil, there is fear in the eyes of this great, mighty, black horse, but there is also fight. I can feel the horse's heart racing, but it doesn't retreat. It stands firm even when its heart is racing.
In a way I see a reflection of my own fears as a photographer, as an artist.
There are times where your own fears and anxieties make you want to run, to retreat to a place where no-one can notice you rather than put yourself out there.
When I look at this image I see strength and power - the determination not to give in.
It reminds me that there can be power in my work and that it takes strength to overcome your own fears to do meaningful work with vigour and purpose.
